We enjoy both fresh and saltwater fishing, and organise half day, day and overnight(s) trips to Kaikoura, Akaroa, Moeraki, Lake Coleridge and Lake Brunner.
A yearly competition is held with the Canterbury Clubs, along with a Mid-Winter Brass Monkey competition. The High Country opening at Lake Coleridge in November.
Clubs New Zealand South Island trout competition is held yearly at various locations around the South Island in March. Little fishing takes place in the winter, although occasional non-fishing trips are organised.
If you know of another place where the fish are willing to be caught, join the section and let the boys know. They would more than welcome the opportunity to organise a trip to your location.

We are a very sociable bunch of people ranging in age from 16 to mid 80s who play as many games as we can during the summer season. The section is a small one, with all involved intent on having an enjoyable time either playing cricket or supporting the players.
Games are played on the cricket pitch at the South Brighton Domain, off Jellicoe Street.
An annual fixture is Good Friday when the section meets for an enjoyable catch-up day over refreshments and snacks.
The main game of the year is the bus trip to Little River to play the local hotel. A great day is always had by all with plenty of laughs, food and refreshments provided.
An end of year dinner is also held in the Pier View Restaurant.
Subs are $5 per person to join, and there is no age limit.
Several years ago a few members decided that a Club beside the sea should have a Longboarders (Surf) Section.
This has proved very successful and we have an annual calendar of social and competitive activities.
